We carried out a pre-survey to know the starting point of the project.
In order to introduce the topic, we did some activities.
1. QUESTIONNAIRE 'MY READING HABITS AND SKILLS'
We asked the students in our high school to fill in the same questionnaire voluntarily so that the results could be compared later on.
2. WORDSEARCH
We also celebrated the European Day of Languages.
ASSESSMENT OF OUR LANGUAGE SKILLS
We celebrated ERASMUS DAYS: we read about its priorities, created wordclouds and solved a wordsearch.
It was time to know each other.
In November, the first teachers' meeting was held to discuss about the activities and the organization of the project.
We spoke about Kansas, where Dorothy is from, and cyclones, the origin of the story.
In order to highlight the most meaningful words from the story, it was agreed that each team would create a 'Wizard of Oz' word cloud focusing on different topics:
- Dorothy's journey
- Courage, heart and brains (Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, Lion)
- Friendship / Home / Adventure / Identity
- The Wicked Witches
- Kansas
...
Irene and Marta were the students in charge of creating ours. They chose the topic: DOROTHY'S JOURNEY.
We discussed about FRIENDSHIP (one of the topics of the book) and the characteristics a good friend should have. First, we did some activities in class and then we wrote on the forum.
1. We created a WORD CLOUD about the characteristics of best friends.
2. A GOOD FRIEND
3. INTERNATIONAL DAY OF FRIENDSHIP
4. FRIENDSHIP WORDSEARCH
